Online check-in is available any time from 24 hours before your flight and up to 30 minutes before departure (BUT allow time reach your departure gate before closure!!).
If, for any reason, you are unable to print your boarding pass at the end of the online check-in process you can:
- email your boarding pass to a convenient email address and print once you have access to a printer
- print your boarding pass at the bmi web points located at London Heathrow, Edinburgh and Glasgow
- collect your boarding pass from the bmi check-in desk at the airport

Above all, never, ever, ever check in anywhere, anyhow other than for the flight you are about to take. No matter what - UNLESS you are 150% certain that nothing will possibly ever change. You would not believe how complicated life can become if you check in for the return flight (thinking you are saving time) and then find you need to change it. Trust me.
- You can check-in online if you are travelling on a BMI operated route as listed and you have booked directly at flybmi.com or via a travel agent
- Your ticket must be an e-ticket (ie electronic ticket, not paper)
- If you are travelling on an economy saver fare on short haul routes BMI will select your seat for you when you check-in
- If you are returning within 24 hours we'll check you in for your return flight at the same time (you can still change your flight after check-in if travelling on a flexible fare) - just make sure that you are returning on the flight booked!!
Things to remember:
BMI have introduced dedicated fast bag drops designed especially for customers who check-in online. These are currently available at Aberdeen, Belfast City, Dublin, Durham Tees Valley, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Jersey, Leeds Bradford, London Heathrow (Island B, desks 1, 3, 5, 7) and Manchester.

If you have a "TINY" fare (ie cheap) or are with BMI baby, you will get allocated a seat by the system, or at the airport - a downside of the cheaper fares. Other fares may select seats during the booking process - depending on what is left.
- Your booking contains infants as we need to allocate appropriate seating - which you must telephone the airline for, well before you travel; there are only a limited number of seats suitable for infants.
- You have requested special medical requirements etc
- There are more than nine passengers in the booking (ie a group)
- You hold a paper ticket
