Online Check-In can be used as long as you have a Lufthansa Miles and More card, or a card from British Midland, Austrian or any other Star Alliance carrier, stored or registered in your booking; OR if you bought the ticket using a credit card or have a German EC card as an identification code. Note that these latter items must have been entered into the booking, at the time of booking. The credit card must have been used, payable to Lufthansa as opposed to being taken by a travel agent, if you see what I mean.
If you have bought an etix® without registering a card number you can check in at the Quick Check In Machines and use any one of your credit cards for identification. Alternatively you may present your reservation, ticket or flight number as well as your passport or identification card at the Check-In Counter.
You can check-in for the following flights:
- Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, British Midland, Croatia Airlines and LOT, provided you are not departing from an airport in Finland, Scandinavia or Switzerland.
- SAS or SWISS, provided you are departing from a German airport
Online check-in is possible from up to 23 hours before departure and make sure that you DISABLE your pop-up blocker before you try to try to organise your boarding pass on line.
Seats may be reserved online, if you are able to check in online no matter what ticket you have. Cheaper tickets may only offer the option of a restricted number of seats, though.
Unaccompanied Minors (UMNR) - UM must be over 5 and under 14 years old (can be extended to 17 at parents insistance)
To book an UM we need: Date of birth of the minor, name/surname/ complete address/telephone of the person who accompanies at departure and who will meet on arrival. Cost of UMNR service per direction:
EUR40/USD50 for intra-German flights direct & transit and 5th freedom sectors
EUR40/USD50 for within Europe nonstop flights
EUR80/USD99 for within Europe transit flights
EUR80/USD99 for all flights to/from outside Europe nonstop and transit
UMs cannot be booked on code-share flight operated by other airlines.
