US Airways Online Checkin

Web Check-in is currently not available to customers who are:
- Traveling with lap children
- Traveling as an unaccompanied minor
- Traveling to "certain" international destinations
- Traveling on codeshare service (other than US Airways, US Airways Express, America West or America West Express)
- Traveling in a party that is larger than 8 passengers
- Have more than one brain cell, it seems.

The US Airways internet check-in and, for that matter, their website, is very basic. There is little information and such that is there, is of limited value - even after all that fiasco of trying to merge their system with America West. Really helpfully, US Airways do not actually say which "international destinations" you cannot use the online check-in for and the internet chat with an agent does not work, either. Or it does, only you have to repeat everything every time you try. Nor can "certain" people use the internet check-in. Probably those that live on the planet Zog and in a small, remote village just south of Grimsville, Arizona. Very annoying.

Children 15-17 who require US Airways assistance may travel unaccompanied on non-stop flights only. There is an additional $50 fee each way. Uniformed employees provide assistance for children traveling alone from the point of departure to their final destination. Personnel are not qualified to provide certain types of medical assistance, (like what, pray?) and are not permitted to administer or dispense medication. US offer a curbside check in with a charge of $2.00 per bag, look for a porter (skycap) usually wearing a US Air Logo on a sort of podium. If there are long queues inside, curbside can be a quick way in. Have to give a tip as well, mind.

US Airways closes passenger and baggage check-in 30 minutes prior to departure for domestic travel and 60 minutes prior to departure for international travel. Passengers with bags to check who are departing from the following airports must check-in at least 45 minutes prior to departure: Atlanta, Buffalo, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Honolulu. Las Vegas, Maui, Philly, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Washington IAD, Seattle and Orlando.

Web Check-In is available from 24 hours to 90 minutes before departure. May be used for America West, America West Express and US Airways Express (Not using the word "Express" in the literal sense, of course.)

Above all, never, ever, ever check in anywhere, anyhow other than for the flight you are about to take. No matter what - UNLESS you are 150% certain that nothing will possibly ever change. You would not believe how complicated life can become if you check in for the return flight (thinking you are saving time) and then find you need to change it. Trust me.
